Smash Hits - Stocktake Time
Dear Members,
Hope you are well. Understandably, many of you are currently preparing for AGMs and annual reports for various stakeholders.
All State Annual Reports are due to BA by 10 September 2017. A reporting guide and templates has been shared - please seek BA assistance if there are any questions about completing this. Special thanks to NTBA for being the first to submit theirs well in advance of the due date. They've been busy with recent radio promotions and meetings with new stakeholders, and have managed a very respectable membership increase in the past 12 months!
Badminton Australia's AGM is scheduled for 25 November 2017 commencing at 9.00am and will be followed by a Members Forum where we welcome your ideas for the agenda. For your chance to be heard, send an email to the BA office or submit feedback via http://tinyurl.com/BAmembersurvey. So far, we have received requests to hear about and discuss:
In other catch ups with South Australia and Tasmania, we've learnt that both Associations have now implemented a change in their membership structure, removing the per-head affiliation fee which has encouraged groups to work together and focus more on delivering programs and better value to their members and participants.
In Sporting Schools and Shuttle Time news, Badminton WA delivered their highest number of Sporting Schools programs in Term 1 on record, and was featured in an article with St Joseph's Primary School. Official data from Term 2 will be emailed shortly to all State Sporting School Coordinators. Badminton has had over 70 requests in Term 3 to date with a mixture of success around the country.
In July, Michelle Au (SA) and Brandon Olver (VIC) contributed to the first Shuttle Time workshop in Samoa. It was a great opportunity for active coordinators to spend time with other countries sharing their successes and challenges, ideas, initiatives and knowledge. They assisted with the training of a new Shuttle Time Samoa Tutor and Teacher workforce and congratulations to them for attaining Shuttle Time Trainer status as a result!
We shall soon be announcing the players to represent Australia at the BWF Para-Badminton World Championships (21-26 November) in Ulsan, Korea. Arrangements are currently being made for a training camp in Perth and subsequent travel to Korea, to be led by National Para-Badminton Coach Ian Bridge. A fundraising portal has been set up for the team and we would appreciate all friends, family and badminton community share and donate where possible https://asf.org.au/projects/badminton-australia/para-badminton-australia.
I will be in Taiwan from 19 August for the Summer Universiade, in Japan from 5 September for a Para-Badminton International, and return to Australia on 12 September, with the hope of recharging somewhere in between all that. Although I may not be able to take calls during the above period, I can be reached over email as normal so please let me know if I can be of any support.
