What's making news across Australia... Education: Plenty of courses coming up across the country...Shuttle Time Teachers Courses are planned in Sydney (10 Mar), Brisbane (19 Mar), and Perth (date TBA) during school teacher Professional Development days. A Level 1 Coaching Course is also planned in Melbourne (9 Apr).

Equipment: There has been an increase in school requests to purchase badminton kits and portable nets from Badminton Australia, thanks to updated messaging on the Sporting Schools website. Please note stock levels are running low and when they run out, future enquiries will either be referred to Yonex Australia and/or local distributors. A reminder that Member Associations can purchase the existing stock at cost price (with BA absorbing the courier fees for an order of 2 or more kits).

Grassroots Fundraising: The Australian Sports Foundation has released a new suite of grassroots sports fundraising documents recently which includes a very helpful fundraising toolkit.

New Members: Badminton WA has reported positive feedback to their Wings Junior Badminton project which connects Sporting Schools participants to local clubs by communicating with the schools through promotional flyers. As an extension to the Sporting Schools programme, the Wings Junior Clubs offer participation certificates and follow up coaching camps that run fun games, interspersed with basic skill work.

Welcome: A warm welcome to Scott Prebble as Badminton SA's Sport Development Officer. Scott has recently completed a Bachelor in Sport and Recreation Management and has a proven track record working with various sporting organisations including AFL, Cricket and Touch Football. Scott brings with him a diverse sporting background and is experienced in various aspects of sports management including coaching, player development, team coordination and the facilitation of school programs.

Please continue to share programs and events in your States/Territories as they become available, to grow the sport profile and increase our abilty to provide support and share knowledge where possible.

Regards, Marianne Loh Participation Manager Badminton Australia
